Community members celebrate Main Street Mayville’s designation as a Wisconsin Main Street community by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

2018 – Main Street Mayville was designated as a new Wisconsin Main Street community Tuesday by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, joining a group of 33 other communities that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to revitalizing commercial districts.

Main Street Mayville Manager Trina Justman Reichert and Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk received a certificate from WEDC Deputy Secretary Tricia Braun. Gov. Scott Walker proclaimed Tuesday as Wisconsin Main Street Day.

An unveiling of a Wisconsin Main Street sign that will be erected in the city was witnessed by many community members and Main Street Mayville board members.

Main Street Mayville, created in 1997, was chosen for the program because of its track record of success, as well as its ongoing commitment to the Main Street principles that are key to enhancing business districts. The designation comes as the city prepares to celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2020.

The organization provided WEDC with a clear plan for utilizing the services offered by the Wisconsin Main Street Program as it focused on development, housing, placemaking and awareness. Main Street Mayville already has a historic district, a façade improvement grant program and other programs that will complement the assistance provided by the state.
